Lofoten is renowned for its stockfish and picturesque fishing villages. However, beyond this, Lofoten is also home to numerous local food producers and gourmet restaurants. Embark on this tour to explore the rich culinary heritage of Lofoten - a tour centered around tasting and learning about local and traditional food from Lofoten.
- The seafood of the future: Visit a renowned company harvesting from the sea. This local and award-winning business is on a quest to bring seaweed in to the modern kitchen - with their products already being used in home of the many, as well as in Michelin star restaurants across Europe. Learn about how they harvest the seaweed with minimal environmental impact, learn about the unique properties of seaweed - and of course, taste some samples!
- The farm: Visit a small local farm and learn how teas and herbs are cultivated, and befriend some baby goats. Learn and witness the production of local cheese - if you want an extra challenge consider adding the activity of cheese-making itself (optional add-on). Of course, you will also get to sample some of the yellow gold - the local cheese.
- Stockfish Racks: Get up close to the iconic stockfish racks, and learn about the traditional process of fish preservation. Sample some slices of dried stocfish - a quite unique salty snack.
- Delicious lunch in one of Lofoten's finest restaurant. Try a dish made with local ingredients, or traditional style to further experience the rich food culture of Lofoten.
