About the Lofoten Islands Midnight Sun tour
Explore the magic of the midnight sun! From late May to mid-July, the sun never sets. Throughout the rest of summer, the sun barely dips below the horizon, continuing its magic. The phenomenon of the midnight sun equals endless summer days, and a unique lighting that casts a magical glow on the beautiful Lofoten scenery. For many, the midnights sun also offers renewed energy, compared to the dark winter months of the north.
Embark on a journey with us and witness the extraordinary sights Lofoten has to offer. Our evening excursions will take you to thoughtfully chosen spots, each boasting breathtaking views bathing in the glow of the midnight sun.
- Hov/Gimsøya: There's nothing quite like Gimsøya on a summer night. Gimsøya is a stunning island offering complete tranquility, and is even more mesmerizing in the magical light of the midnight sun. This idyllic island offers breathtaking landscapes with blooming meadows, mountain peaks, long beaches, and the icy waters of the Norwegian Sea.
- Explore the island in the midnight sun glow on a short walk to the nearest breakwater. On the way you will pass blooming meadows and traditional stockfish racks, bathed in the unique lighting. For the adventurous souls, you may instead choose to hike up the near mountain peak - promising unparalleled views of the midnight sun. For those wanting a less active option, there are several gorgeous spots to explore on the island by car. All options offer unique and undescribable views - perfect for photographing.
- Bonfire on the beach: Enjoy the warmth from a small bonfire on the beach, with a warm drink and snack in your hand, while gazing at the midnight sun reflect itself in the deep blue sea.
Optional: The midnight sun from mulitple viewpoints
For those wanting to experience the magical midnight sun from multiple viewpoints, beach bonfire and exploration can be exchanged for a trip to Uttakleiv. After a pop by Gimsøya we would then instead continue our journey to Uttakleiv - renowned as one of Europe's most stunning beaches. This famous long, sandy beach is surrounded by towering mountains, and truly shines brightest under the midnight sun.
